Julie G. Huiskamp

"The CCLP has been a life-changing experience for me. Having the ability to attain the Ph.D. with a cohort has not only enhanced my learning, but has also provided me with a wonderful network of community college professionals and, more importantly, friends."

Education:

I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Education with a minor in Library Science from the University of Northern Iowa and my Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Iowa. I am ABD in the CCLP 2003-2006 Cohort. My husband (ISU Vet Med '79) says it took me 25 years to get to the RIGHT university!

Professional Interests:

I serve as the Director of Human Resources at Northeast Iowa Community College and look forward to becoming more involved in local and regional human resources and professional development groups when I finish my degree.

Research interests:

My dissertation topic is "Mandatory Professional Development and Community College Support Staff Personnel". It is a qualitative study that examines the ways in which one community college's mandatory professional development program influences the career and educational aspirations of the institution's full-time support staff personnel.
