Conversations on Quality in the Community College: Accountability, Accreditation, and Assessment

With the 2003 reauthorization of the Higher Education Act of 1965, conversations on accountability, accreditation and assessment in higher education from multiple perspectives are ongoing. The underlying theme is that of quality in American Higher Education. Stakeholders include the United States Department of Education, the Federal Commission on the Future of Higher Education, The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and its regional affiliates, state accrediting agencies, as well as community colleges, colleges and universities across the country.

This seminar focused on the North Central Association - Higher Learning Commission's (NCA-HLC) accrediting criteria and processes with emphasis on the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). This seminar also included a focus on the status of the current reauthorization of the Higher Education Act and the Spellings Commission Report which could impact accreditation in the future.
