K. Kellogg Foundation, whose charge was to address the challenge of developing new leadership for the nation’s community colleges through a series of activities that included reviewing today’s leadership programs and comparing them to the leadership programs of the 1960’s. The study revealed that college leaders require the following characteristics: understanding and implementing the community college mission; effective advocacy; administrative skills; community and economic development; and personal, interpersonal, and transformational skills. The conference encompasses a tri-dimensional program focus to address characteristics found in the Leading Forward Initiative and hopes to attract current and future leaders. Please note that one-hour of graduate credit will be granted by Iowa State University for attending the two-day conference.
